Together we can prevent and treat child abuse in Jackson County, Missouri
Our mission is to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse by creating changes in individuals, families and society that strengthen relationships and promote healing.
We believe children should be valued and nurtured by both their families and the larger family of humankind.
25 - 50% of all children will experience some form of abuse during childhood. One of every three girls will be sexually abused before the age of 18; and one out of every five to seven boys will be sexually abused by 18. In Missouri, there are over 60,000 children involved in the child protection system each year.
At CAPA for every $100 spent on prevention education, $3,600 could be saved on treatment for one abused child. Help prevent child abuse. Help prevent child abuse.
We would like to thank all of the people who helped make our Black & Orange Bash a huge success! Our sponsors...Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Centerpoint Medical Center, Cockerell & McIntosh Pediatrics, Farmers Insurance, Hallmark Corporate Foundation, Robin McGinnity Connelly, Shook, Hardy & Bacon, SureWest Foundation and West Third Group...our host, Christina Medina of NBC Action News...Ellen Swartz of Elligator Graphics, our guests and the many people who donated items for our silent auction all played an enormous part in the success of this event.
Those of us at CAPA greatly appreciate your valuable support. These events are such an important element in getting the message out about child abuse prevention, as well as raising the necessary funds to help with our prevention efforts, educational awareness and counseling services. We could not assist the children and families of Jackson County without incredible people like you.
Don't forget to put April 8, 2011 on your calendar when CAPA will host "A Blue Tie Affair" at the Chapel Ridge Banquet Center in Lee's Summit. Guests will be encouraged to wear some form of blue to this banquet gala...whether it be a blue dress, suit, tie, shoes or accessories. Just don't wear "black tie" attire, as this event promises to be a fun-filled, enjoyable evening. Until then, thank you for attending our Black and Orange Bash.
