Welcome to our website! The website includes information on the people called United Methodist at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

The church was launched in 1979 and has been going strong ever since. Aldersgate has had numerous pastors and laity pass through her doors. The present pastors and laity are living off the legacy of those who have gone before us. We pray those who come behind us find us faithful as well.
The name "Aldersgate" comes from an experience John Wesley had on May 24, 1738. The following is how he described his experience: "In the evening, I went very unwillingly to a society (small group) in Aldersgate Street, where one was reading Luther's preface to the Epistle to the Romans. About a quarter before nine, while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation: And an assurance was given me, that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death."

Aldersgate UMC is an inviting, forming, and sending church. We invite people to love God and love their neighbor and to accept the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. We provide opportunities for people to be formed into the image of Christ through Bible Study and other growth and fellowship opportunities. We also provide people with service opportunities to reach out in love to their community, nation, and the world.

We have a beautiful church building. We have an even more beautiful church which is composed of the people of God here at Aldersgate UMC. As you look through our website, you can see the face, the hands, and the feet of Jesus through the people of the church. It is our mission and prayer to continue the ministry of Jesus where God has planted us, to be His Ambassadors and to continue to make the world our parish.
