Terri Price: Institute’s Director of Neuropsychology and Family Services named a Hero in Healthcare by Ingram’s Magazine
Dr. Terrie Price named one of Ingram’s Magazines 2010 “Heroes in Healthcare”
“Heroes in Healthcare are exemplary healthcare providers who go above and beyond the call of duty to contribute to their institution specifically and to the health care industry in general,” said Joe Sweeney, Ingram’s Editor-In-Chief and Publisher. Dr. Terrie Price, Director of Neuropsychology and Family Services was recognized in the Professional Staff Achievement Category. It recognizes individuals from the allied health fields whose performance is considered exemplary by patients and peers. “We are delighted to include Dr. Price in this impressive lineup of professionals who work on the front lines of the medical field,” said Sweeney.
Neuropsychology is a specialty that combines Dr. Price’s two areas of interest – the study of brain-behavior relationships and educating others on brain functions. “I greatly enjoy the diagnostic process of assessing cognitive functions, and have the opportunity to educate people on how the brain works,” says Price. “Most of the individuals that I work with have had a major medical event resulting in life-altering changes,” Price says. “It is a constant testimony to our capacity for courage and hope as individuals wrestle to understand the ‘new normal’ and then remake meaningful lives.”
Congratulations, Dr. Price! The Rehabilitation Institute is fortunate to have you on our team.

Kansas City artist, Jim Hamil, and his wife have been long-time friends and supporters of the Rehabilitation Institute. They never dreamt that one day they, too, would need our services. Jim’s new creation was on exhibit at Arts on the Hill, the Institute’s annual art exhibition.
On July 8, 2009, Jim experienced an Arterial Venous Malformation (AVM). The AVM resulted from a series of small blood vessels in Jim’s brain became entangled and began to bleed into his brain. Similar to a stroke, the AVM affected Jim’s ability to walk, talk and function independently. After a three-week hospital stay, Jim came to the Rehabilitation Institute where he is receiving physical, occupational and speech therapy to regain his lost abilities.
