You have found yourself on a journey that you didn't choose, and on a path that seems uncertain. We are here to stand with you -- side by side -- to guide you and your family, and to provide excellent care. We are here to help minimize pain, fear and uncertainty, and maximize love and occasions of joy.
Hospice recognizes dying as a normal process. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death, but rather provides physical, psychological, social and spiritual care so that you and your loved one can live each day to the fullest. The focus of treatment changes from curative to palliative. The comfort care we provide (also known as end-of-life care) makes the patient feel at ease by minimizing symptoms while providing support to you and your family.
BJC Hospice was one of the first hospices in the St. Louis region, and the only hospice in the area to provide a pediatric hospice program. Admission to BJC Hospice is based on need rather than ability to pay. Care is provided in areas surrounding St. Louis, Missouri; Alton, Illinois; Sullivan, Missouri; and Farmington, Missouri.
A nurse, chaplain, medical social worker and complementary therapists provide the best medical, emotional and spiritual support available for the patient and family. Medical equipment, medications and supplies are made available when related to the terminal illness. Trained volunteers provide friendship, assistance with household needs or respite time for caregivers. Massage therapy, art and music therapy, healing touch, Reiki and memory projects are offered. Grief counseling is available through several bereavement programs. Members of our team are on call for you 24 hours a day.
BJC Hospice is a benefit covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance plans. Our services go beyond those of other health care providers. And we bring those services to your loved ones in their homes or senior living residences.
Peace to you.
