Adult Forum on November 21 will focus on "The Politics of Food." Walking through the supermarket today can feel like an ethical landmine. Is it okay to eat meat? What's the "carbon footprint" of those organic bananas from Costa Rica? You won't want to miss this jam-packed presentation (no pun intended!) led by Kevin McGrane about a subject matter that concerns everyone, from omnivores to vegans and beyond.
Christmas Acolyte Refresher Training! Acolyte training for “all” acolytes will be in the church today, November 21, from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m., with a pizza lunch. If you or your parents have any questions about acolyting, feel free to call Bob Shillito at 647-4226.
Thanksgiving: Emmanuel is hosting the ecumenical Thanksgiving Worship Service and Ingathering for the Food Center at 9:00 a.m. on November 25. We will be joined again by members of Christ Lutheran Church, and, as an outward expression of our thanksgiving for all God’s blessings, the congregation will be invited to bring canned goods and cash gifts for the Food Center. Please plan to attend and help restock the shelves for the coming months. Donations for the Food Center can also be made in advance if you will be away at Thanksgiving.
Advent Giving Tree and Soup Supper: Plan to attend the annual Soup Supper next Sunday, November 28 at 6:00 p.m. We will make ornaments to decorate the Giving Tree, and fill them with gift item suggestions for youth in detention and persons in need. This is a wonderful way to start the Advent Season. Tickets are available now. Household maximum for tickets purchased in advance is $12. NO maximum at the door.
Come smell the roses! Would you like to help deliver altar flowers to the homes of parishioners after Sunday services? We need people to deliver them to homes. We hate to see beautiful flowers left to wilt when someone would enjoy them. Contact Susie Feldmann or Deacon Burnell at the church office (961-2393) for more information.
Paper Bags Needed: The Food Center is in need of more paper bags for Food Center groceries. If you can bring some with you on an upcoming visit to Emmanuel, it will be greatly appreciated.
More Adult Christian Formation: This fall the Adult Forum will include topics relating to parish life, spiritual growth, social justice and the Episcopal Church. Adult Forum follows the 9:00 a.m. service and begins with social time, coffee, and announcements.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study is open to any and all who wish to attend. The session lasts for about one hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday morning. Fr. Rod Wiltse is the leader on this journey through the book of Revelation. Please come and join the group! .
The New Side Parking Area will be exclusively for those who are handicapped on Sunday mornings. This includes the two unmarked spaces. However, during the rest of the week, those same two spaces will be available for use by anyone.
