We have no rental horses or activities open to the general public.

We have 7 families who live on the ranch so the ranch is never left unattended.
There is someone on duty 24 hours per day.
The owners, manager and assistant manager are in residence.
We have 4 full-time and 4 part-time employees 5 of whom live on the property.
Our manager closes up precisely at 9:00 P.M. The manager makes the rounds of all the barns checking the horses, water, locks all tack rooms, turns out lights and, in the cold winter months, closes the barn doors.
The ranch is operated under a set of common rules and regulations for the safety of everyone.

The ranch is situated in a valley, so the majority of the property is flat ground.
There are wooded trails around the property and a wet weather creek that runs through the property.
There are no thoroughfare roads, so safety from car traffic is not a concern.

The ranch consists of four boarding barns with a total of 74 stalls. 22 stalls have private pipe runs and 14 - approx. 1/8 acre paddocks with stall and tackroom.
Two indoor lighted arenas and two outdoor lighted arenas
There are three round, sand-filled working pens
There are 8 pipe and cable turnout pens that are 25 feet wide by 200 feet long. These pens are used for us to turn horses out at a fee of $3.00 per day for approximately 4 hours or for the boarders use after 3:30PM. No horses are ever turned out together unless by the owners instructions. We have individual, grass pasture, turnout for $6.00 per day for 4 hours.

The smaller indoor arena is 40 ft. by 100 ft. and is in our largest boarding barn. That barn also has a room that is heated in the winter with a table and chairs, and bathroom. It has a big Plexiglas window overlooking the indoor riding arena for viewer safety and comfort.

The large indoor arena is 100 ft. by 200 ft., clear span. There are no horses boarded in that facility.

The one outdoor, lighted arena is 150 ft. by 200 ft. pipe-fenced and is set up permanently with jumps. It has a 10 ft. path outside the jumps but inside the fence for those who dont wish to use the jumps.

The second outdoor, pipe-fenced arena is 100 ft. by 200 ft. and is free of any jumps, etc. The western riders, who use this arena, sometimes set up barrels or poles to practice. This arena is also well suited for pleasure riding.

The ranch also has a small play area for children with a commercial swing set and merry-go-round.There are some picnic tables for boarder use. There is also an area where you can park your horse trailer free of charge.

The horses are bedded on shavings and the stalls are cleaned 7 days a week. We are open 365 days per year from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Each aisle of each barn has at least one tack room and two barns have inside wash racks. The ranch also has one outside wash rack. Each stall has a vent from a central ventilation system located in each aisle. These systems are operated in the hot part of the summer for the horses comfort.
The University of Missouri Equine Center formulated our grain, so the horses receive everything they need, including salt and minerals, in the feed. The ranch is supplied by a feed company who mixes and delivers our grain fresh every two weeks. The ranchs hay is delivered every two weeks from a supplier in Illinois. We have available grass or alfalfa hay for your choice. Due to safety concerns, no feed or hay is stored in our boarding barns. We provide an outbuilding for the boarders use and we have a separate hay barn. The board charge includes 10 to 12 lbs. of grain per day and 2 flakes of hay at 7:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.

The boarding fee for a 10 ft. by 12 ft. box stall is $290.00 per month.
We have a limited number of larger stalls available for an additional charge.
Our 20 stalls with private runs are $20.00 per month extra for the run.
Pasture board is $200.00 per month.
We have approx. 1/8 acre Paddocks that include an individual stall and private tackroom for $370.00 per month.

The number of pasture horses is limited to a total of ten. The horses are divided into two groups and rotated between four grass pastures. They are on two pastures while two are recovering. No other horses are turned out or ridden in those pastures. The pasture horses are given hay in the winter months to supplement their nourishment. We do have two grass pastures across the creek that are used to turn the stalled horses out individually on a charged fee basis.

We have one english(hunter/jumper) trainer and one western trainer who give lessons at our facility. The western lessons are avialable to the general public, with the trainer providing the horse for the lesson, as well as to those who have a horse boarded at Sugar Creek Ranch. The western trainer also breaks and trains horses to ride. The english lessons are given only to those who board their horse at Sugar Creek Ranch.

We have about one-half english and one-half western riders at our facility.

We operate a very nice, clean facility that is a pleasant, stress-free place where families can come to relax and feel safe. We seldom advertise, as we stay full most of the time just by referrals. We have many long-term boarders. Some have been with us since we purchased the facility in 1978. We feel that is our highest compliment and also our best advertisement.
