I specialize in custom cabinets and furniture. I have been known, on occasion, to make wooden toys for my children, grandchildren, and special requests made by parents. I try to keep my prices low and usually have better pricing than my competitors.
I use quality woodthatI mostlycut and cure myself. I get the wood mainly from trees that have been blown down or have fallen due to other natural events (naturally felled trees). I don't believe in using the pressed wood, such as, particle board or chipboard. I either use solid wood or laminate veneer for strength and quality.
I have made many types of cabinets, and charge per linear foot. This means the total number of feet of cabinets is multiplied by the current rate. The price does vary somewhat depending on the type of wood used. If intricate work or exotic woods or stains are required, this will also add to the price.
If you visit my house, just about everything that you see that is made of wood was crafted by me. Everything from the ash trim to the front door, I did it all. Things you might see would be a grandfather clock, TV armoire, computer hutch, tables, chairs, etc. Basically, if you can describe what you want I can make a rough sketch, take some measurements, get your approval,then get to building.
Wooden toys for children are sold unfinished so you can personalize them or the children can paint them yourself. The good thing about being made of real wood if you mess up just take some sandpaper and "erase" the mistake and start again. I have made toys for my kids and grandchildren, as well as parents that just wanted something special for their little ones.
