Your computer is constantly exposed to potential viral infections. As you go about your business surfing the net, virus variants are surfing for you. Having an update to your Virus Scanner is unequivocally important! Most, if not all AntiVirus programs have an automatic update feature. Make sure that it is NOT disabled. In addition to the update (it seems like common sense); however, you must make sure that a FULL AntiVirus scan is run on your system! Often, we find that clients have virus scanners, however, a scan may not have been run for weeks or months. Most AntiVirus programs allow you to schedule automatic scanning of your system. Check the documentation for your AntiVirus program to set up automatic daily scanning, etc. You can go to StL MobileTech's Free Download Center to get some of the Free AntiVirus Programs.

Another matter of importance to most computer users is, how fast the computer is. The efficiency of the system depends on how much system resources are available. If your system resources are effected by a virus OR are not configured properly OR are just is not enough, StL MobileTech can make your computer faster. We are aware that most people today live a very hectic life and don't have time for much outside of work and more work. Tip! There are a number of descent AntiVirus Scanners on the market today. A lot of them are free! You can take a look at some of the Free Virus Scanners on our "Free Download Center" page. However, there are some unwanted programs that masquerade as a legitimate virus scanner when, in fact, it is malware (malicious software) that once installed adds itself in the registry and in other clever places like your system restore files. Therefore, just manually removing the files from the usual places is not good enough. A tool that you can use in conjunction with your virus scanner is Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT or MRT). This program can search your entire system (depending on how you configure the scan) for malware. Because the program accesses every file (depending on how you configure the scan), your virus scanner will scan each file as long as real time scanning is enabled.

So, as always be mindful of what you and ESPECIALLY your kids download from the internet or any removable media. If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot load your system normally, you can always attempt to boot into safe mode by pressing the F8 key when your system starts up and immediately following the POST (BIOS TESTING), i.e. memory, keyboard, etc. testing. If you see the windows logo, you have waited too long. Reboot the system and try again. If you are able to get into your system via safe mode you can go to the control panel and then on to the Add and Remove Programs to uninstall any unfamiliar or newly added applications. Just a note, some viruses are not installed through the normal installation process and therefore are not found in the Add and Remove Programs screen. If none of this helps, StL MobileTech will service your PC or Laptop for you and get your system running again.
