We opened Jimmys in December 1994, in a building that had been a grocery store serving the DeMun neighborhood for over fifty years. A continuous work in progress, the more than six hundred caricatures that line our walls were penned by local artist Todd Bauman and feature the faces of local celebrities and faithful clientele that frequent the restaurant, for without them we do not exist. Tenderloin Anthony and Flash Fried Spinach are just a few of the unique dishes that were developed especially for Jimmys Caf. Pasta crunchersflash-fried imported fettuccine with a special blend of seasoningsare another Jimmys Original. They are complimentary on each table, and are great to munch on while enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine. Our private party room is the perfect place to celebrate that special occasion or hold a private meeting with space to accommodate as many as 50 guests.
BISTRO ROOM AND BAR. (Opened December 2002)
Artifacts gathered by partner and developer Rick Yackey have been used to achieve a most eclectic design. Joan Colgrove of CSI Design added the finishing touches to this new space. The new 20-foot bar incorporates the use of overhead door parts, a highly polished red granite bar top, industrial springs as arm rests and a train track as a foot rail. An 80-year old maple wood floor from a downtown warehouse has been transplanted into the dining area, which is accented with marble inlays coming from the old City Hospital building in St. Louis, high-tech track and pendant lighting. Overstuffed bar stools and banquettes with two fireplaces add the final touches to create an inviting place to relax and enjoy a great meal or a featured cocktail from our martini menu. The Bistro features live music on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights and during Sunday brunch; it serves a late-night menu from 10:30 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
