Trans Am Contracting, Inc. was established in 1970 in Clear Lake, South Dakota. It was founded with the idea that every project needs to be the very best. We believe our customer deserves what he needs and wants. Our goal is to satisfy our customer. TAC secretary, Larry Gantvoort, founded this company as Gantvoort Contracting. This young company performed services for the general construction industry as a subcontractor for several telco companies and other prime teleco contractors.
In 1982, this company was incorporated as Trans Am Cable. It worked as a prime telco contractor in the central United States. TAC became a WBE contractor when Vivian Gantvoort took over as a majority stockholder and general manager of the company. To better relate to the current projects done with the addition of pipe bursting, pipe ramming, and waterline construction by TAC, it's name was modified to Trans Am Contracting, Inc. in January 2003.
Over 30 years of experience has taught us that planning is crucial for every project. The problems that plague projects come from a lack of understanding goals and developing a proper framework to accomplish them.
That is why our business process begins with design. We work with our clients to first understand their needs and then develop a plan to make it happen.
Our employees can be involved from concept to completion. They have a vast understanding of todays technology. This ensures that every single civil, environmental, structural, and electrical detail is covered and managed properly. All of this translates into a planning process that helps ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
We have been in construction for over 30 years. In energy, telecommunications, and broadband, we have been chosen to build power delivery systems and cell sites, cable television networks and underground fiber optic highways, pipelines, intelligent transportation systems and voice, video and data networks. In later years, pipe bursting, water line installation, and pipe ramming has been added to TAC specialty services.
Our fleet of bucket trucks, backhoes, trenchers, cable plows, and other heavy machinery are some of the best available. They give us capabilities beyond our competition. Our most important asset, our people, give us the manpower to move mountains and our highly praised project management system enables us to maintain control over our projects ensuring safety and providing a method to measure accountability. We provide our clients with contacts who can detail the job. Our construction workers, architects, and backhoe operators, project managers, and ditch diggers are part of the same organization, we are teammates. We work together to get things done quickly and efficiently.
Once we begin building, our crews work tirelessly, efficiently, and safely. We can complete projects almost overnight because we understand that the best way to get a project completed is through work.
We have spent years learning the intricacies of our clients businesses and the technologies that they require in order to build the infrastructures they need to connect with their end-users.
Our installation capabilities are extensive. We have vast experience installing buried and aerial fiber optic cables, copper lines, electrical distribution, and water and sewer systems, in any and all environments. We have done it all. Our sophisticated directional boring, plowing, rock sawing and trenching equipment allow us to safely and quickly connect a variety of locations across various types of terrain.
Our capabilities are, of course, not confined to new projects alone. We recognize the need for the deployment of equipment upgrades and replacements and have become adept at retro fitting and updating facilities. We will continue to train our staff and expand our capabilities to make sure that we are always able to address every infrastructure need.
Complex systems span counties, states, time zones and countries. Occasionally problems arise and malfunctions occur. In those circumstances, the only thing that really matters is getting things back up and running as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, when that does not happen, money is lost.
We recognize that our responsibilities to our customers do not end once building and installation is complete. That is why we offer 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year maintenance and support. Crews are available around the clock to fix problems and restore service. Our maintenance services are so comprehensive, if an ice storm on Thanksgiving Day brings down cable wires or powerlines; we can be there to make everything right again.
