Established in 1969, The Kiernan Companies helps businesses of all sizes optimize their employee benefit and business insurance programs. We represent our clients, not insurance companies. We provide a one-stop shop for all employer and employee needs.

We work with our clients in a personal and professional manner, developing long-term plans that correspond to their future needs. Our intimate knowledge of products, tax laws and trends ensures that our clients can act in the best interests of their employees.

Companies establishing employee benefits as well as those seasoned in the process receive a comprehensive plan analysis. Benefit plans are evaluated to newer benefit possibilities, such as Flexible Benefit Plans (cafeteria plans). Funding alternatives are assessed, such as self-funding, minimum premium and cost-plus retention arrangements. Supplemental health benefits will be explored as potential plan enhancements.

Once the appropriate plan has been created (or revised during a periodic review), our team drafts bid specifications for insurance carriers. Responses are analyzed against previous rates, claims data, and current carrier performance statistics. Recommendations for carriers and cost-savings opportunities are submitted to the employer only after an exhaustive review of all alternatives.

We act as the employers legislative watchdog and advocate. The Kiernan Companies makes sure clients are in compliance with state and federal requirements such as COBRA, TEFRA and HIPAA. We review plans for any possible compliance issues based on new or pending laws and provide advanced updates on federal, state and local matters.
