WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?
Many questions have been posed concerning the why how and wherefore of God and His nature: Where did God come from? Why did God put the tree in the garden if He didn't want man to sin? How far does God expect me to go or won't God save all of mankind? Don't 'you think' that God will accept all who say that they 'believe in Him"? The question too often left unasked is 'What must I do to be saved'?
If I desire to be saved, I must go to the author of my salvation, (Hebrews 5:9). The inspired word tells us exactly what we must do if we desire to be saved! Note the following thoughts:
It is necessary that one hear God's word in order to be saved, Romans 10:17. Hearing implies understanding and acceptance of the truth, which sets one free, (John 8:32; 17:17; Romans 1:16-18; 10:14).To be saved, one must believein God and Christ and accept their will for life and living, (Hebrews 11:6; Mark 15:15, 16; John 14:2; Matthew 7:21-23).
In order to be saved, one has to live a faithful Christian life. When he sins he is required to repent, confess fault and pray for forgiveness, (Revelation 2:10; James 2:10-26; Matthew 25:30-36; Hebrews 10:25-27; Hebrews 6:4-6; Galatians 3:27).
Friends, each of the above, according to God's word, is necessary to salvation. if one is to be saved, he is required to do 'the Father's will', (Matthew 7:21-23). Have you obeyed those things which are necessary for salvation?
One is required to repent of sin and turn to righteousness which is in Christ, if he desires to be saved, (Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38; 3:19; Luke 24:27).
One cannot be saved before he confesses Christ before man, (Matthew 10:32, 33; Romans 10:9, 10). To fail to confess the Lord is to deny Him, and those who deny Christ will not enjoy the salvation that He freely offers to all.
One who wants to be saved is required to submit to being baptized into Christ, (Galatians 3:27). The Lord gives the directive in this matter, (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; 22:16; I Peter 3:21; Mark 16:16).
