Nerinx National Merit Scholars
Four Nerinx seniors have been recognized as National Merit Semifinalists...Meaghan Brennan, Julie Clanahan, Sarah Davies and Laura Steenberge. Two Nerinx seniors have been recognized as Commended Scholars...Colleen Quigley and Jenny Starrs. Two seniors have been recognized as Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program...Kaylyn Moore and Sky Styers.
Nerinx social studies teacher, Karen Johnson-Budd was selected as a Teacher of Distinction by the Independent Schools of St. Louis (ISSL) and received an Emerson Teacher Awards. In her application, Johnson-Budd proposed to organize a Japanese Festival at Nerinx during the 2010-2011 school year.

Nerinx to Present Les Mis
Nerinx Hall is proud to announce that the 2010 musical will be Les Miserables. Opening night will be Friday, November 12, with a cocktail reception at 6:30 pm and performance at 7:30 pm. Additional performances will be at 7:30 pm on Saturday, November 13; Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20. There will be matinee performances at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 14 and Sunday, November 21. Purchase tickets online now until Nov. 5.
Japanese Festival at Nerinx
The Nerinx community is celebrating many facets of Japanese culture during our first Japanese Festival, October 26-November 2. You can learn about the evolution of women's clothing in Japan, Zen Buddhism, anime, Japanese gardening...there will even be a poetry jam featuring haiku and biyori. Thanks to Nerinx teacher, Karen Johnson-Budd, who has organized the festival as a follow-up to her trip to Japan this summer.
Missouri Poet Laureate, Pulitzer Journalists Speak
Nerinx hosted Missouri Poet Laureate, David Clewell, on Monday, September 27. Clewell, who teaches at Webster University and is a familiar sight to Nerinx students as he walks to his classes just across the driveway, spoke and read from his poetry. On Wednesday, September 29, two journalists sponsored by the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting spoke to students in social studies classes about issues related to water sanitation and access to clean water. The journalists returned for an evening presentation for students, parents and other interested members of the community.
Nerinx Golfers, Tennis Doubles Team at State
The Nerinx Markers took seventh place in the State golf competition in Springfield. Congratulations to Laura Switzer '11, Ashley Karl '11, Colleen Garvey '12, Gretchen Benkendorf '11 and Claire Rainford '14 on a terrific season. The Nerinx tennis doubles team of Brittany Hausmann '12 and Lauren Jin '13 competed in the state tennis matches, advancing to the quarterfinals before being eliminated. Great job, Brittany and Lauren!
